Iceland October Zone Conference

An open book quiz on the Book of Mormon before Zone Conference begins.

White handbook training on language.

Elder Stirke offering his last testimony to the zone before his departure in two weeks.  He has been Zone Leader here and a very faithful example for all.  We will miss him!
Elder Geslison sharing his last testimony with the zone before departing with Elder Stirke in two weeks.  He is the Zone Leader now and is very effective.  It's hard to imagine the mission without these elders and yet the Lord continues to bless Iceland with more faithful elders.

Assistant training on teaching short lessons and contacting.
More assistant training.  They came up with a list of difficult situations to contact others.  They challenged the elders to role play the situations.  They did a great job, as well as kept us entertained:)

Contacting the busy business man on the way to work.  President did not give in easily.
"What's that name tag you have on?"  Elder Stirke has the friendly approach mastered.
Alas...Setting the appointment.
Contacting in a very loud situation.  We were all making the noise of wind, cars, dogs barking, etc.  The appointment was made quickly and done well.
And then there's always the "dude" with his forever earphones on.
Who can resist Elder Rodriquez' friendly smile?
The earphone is out and appointment made.
The hurried "walker" who has no time for anyone.
Appointment made on the fly....
Then the awkward contact in a grocery line.  The elder on the far left even paid for this woman's groceries and delivered them to the car!  Missionaries will stop at nothing to serve:D
Last but not least, contacting a group of rowdy young men.
Find commonalities...

...then suggest more commonalities with a pamphlet of the Savior.

Homemade snacks

Sister O'Bryant training on Joseph Smith

Time line of the Book of Mormon as well as the other scriptures

Training on the "first and second test".  First- do you feel the spirit testify?  Second- does it bring you closer to Christ?
Sister Michaelsen's carrot cheesecake.
The Shepherds prepared the lunch.
Always patiently waiting for the Sister's to be served first.
Homemade Mexican soup and pumpkin soup.

We have to encourage Elder Murphy to smile in pictures but apparently the key is to give him a BIG piece of cheesecake.
In two weeks, this group will look quite different.  We will say good bye to two Icelandic missionaries, two danish missionaries will return to Denmark, we will receive another senior couple and we will receive four new Icelandic missionaries!  We will return to Iceland in 2 weeks with a member of the area Presidency, Elder Johnson and his wife.

Traveling to Selfoss branch, one hour south of Reykjavik, to speak in church.  These branches are filled with faithful saints.  It was a rainy day and the moss was gorgeous green over the volcanic rock.  Last week the Northern Lights gave an amazing exhibit.  All the missionaries were blessed to see colors of what the locals call "the lights of the angels".  They are grateful for the dark winters so they can see the beauty of the lights.

After a delicious lunch provided by the members, we traveled back to Reykjavik.  The sun came out and the rainbows are just gorgeous here!

It was  a complete rainbow:)  Iceland has so many wonders of beauty.

Back to Denmark the next day.  Fall is in the air.
The forests are still green but not for long.
Beautiful colors.  Beautiful Denmark.  So many blessings<3
